CHINOOK TOURNAMENT RULES

1.       Players, coaches, and parents are all reminded that fair play, gamesmanship and fun must be a priority at this tournament.

2.        No game protests will be accepted.  The decision of the referee and/or the Tournament Committee shall be final.

3.        The tournament will be set up on a round robin format, depending on the number of teams entering.  Any deviation will be posted on the draw sheet.

4.        Teams receive 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie in round robin play.

5.        Ties in points standing after round robin play will be decided as outlined in Appendix 1.

6.        Novice, Petite and Tween division play will be 2 fifteen-minute stop-time periods.  Play will be 2 twenty-minute stop-time periods for Junior, Belle, Deb, and Intermediate divisions.

7.        Game sheets will be prepared based on roster submitted with applications.  Roster changes must be reported to the Tournament Coordinator, well in advance of the game.

8.        Rules from the official Ringette Alberta Rules and Operating Procedures shall apply.

9.        Teams must be ready to go on the ice 10 minutes before the game time.  Teams not iced within 2 minutes of the referee’s whistle being blown to start the game will forfeit the game.  The game will be played as an exhibition only.  The score, credited to the team that has given the win, will be recorded as 1-0.

10.     At the discretion of the Tournament Committee, running time may be reverted to at any time if the games are running behind to an extent that the Tournament may be jeopardized.

11.     In play-off series for games tied after regulation time, a 5-minute stop-time sudden-victory period will be played.  If still tied, a second 5-minute stop-time sudden victory period will be played.  If still tied, the team will go to a 3-player shoot-out until a winner is declared.

12.     In the event of uniform colour conflict, the visiting team must change their uniform.  If the visiting team does not have a second colour, the home team may be required to change its uniform, at the direction and discretion of the Tournament Official.

13.     Each team playing must supply a minor official to work the penalty boxes.

14.   The maximum number of goals to be credited to any Bunny or Novice Player is three (3) in any tournament game.  Any goals in excess will not be counted, recorded, or posted on the clock.

OVERAGE PLAYERS

1.        Overage players will only be allowed if they are registered with applying team on a full time basis.

2.        There are no more than two overage players on the ice at any one time.  This includes goalies.  Should an overage player be penalized, than only one overage player may be iced during the penalty kill.  The second player is considered to be the penalized player.

3.        Overage players are limited to 3 goals per game played.  We remind coaches that running up a score is pointless, and will not be tolerated.  There is only a 7-goal spread for point calculation.  See our rules on tie breaking.

4.        Overage players must wear an armband of different colour from their jersey while on the ice.  The armband must be of sufficient size to be clearly visible.  Referees must be notified of the presence of overage players prior to the start of a game.  Identification must be made verbally by the team coach.

APPENDIX 1

In the event that after round robin play teams are tied for a position which entitles a team to participate in either championship game(s) or semi-final games the following rules will apply:

·        When two or more teams have an equal number of points after the completion of the round robin games, the highest of the tied teams will be determined in the following order and considering the “Official Score” of the games.

·        In all cases the maximum difference (spread) between goals for and against in each game is 7 goals.  This is the “Official Score”.

·        These shall be followed in sequence until the tie is broken. Once one team is eliminated from the tie, the procedure reverts back to (I).

(I)                 The winner of more game(s) between each other during the round robin will be declared the highest position.

(II)              If still tied, the team having the greatest positive difference between goals for and against in games between the tied teams in the round robin will be declared the highest position.

(III)            If still tied, the team having the least total goals against in games between the tied teams during the round robin will be declared the highest position.

(IV)           If still tied, the team having the greatest positive difference between goals for and against in all games during the round robin will be declared the highest position.

(V)              If still tied, the tied team with the least goals against in all games during the round robin will be declared the highest position.

(VI)           If still tied, a coin toss will be used to break the tie.
